准备托福、雅思考试的考生都清楚，英语长难句在阅读考试当中出现的频率是很高的。而托福雅思阅读文本往往选取的是国外原本报刊杂志等学术文章，除了学术词汇以外，文本中的长难句对于大部分考生来讲有一定的难度。特别是当这个长难句是阅读考试的题点的时候，就会令大部分同学感觉到头疼，最后导致题目答错。

例1：并列形式
It involves probing for deeply rooted concerns,devising creative solutions,and making trade-offs and compromises where interest are opposed.
分析：句子的主语是it，谓语是involves，三个动名词短语probing for deeply rooted concerns、devising creative solutions和making trade-offs and compromises作宾语。它涉及了探究深层次的关注、想出更有创意的解决方案以及当利益发生冲突的时候，做出交易和妥协。
例2：有修饰语
Automated techniques to measure these characteristics and verify a person's identity infallibly are attracting widespread attention in these days of increased use of credit cards and e-mail.
分析：该句主语是automated techniques，谓语是attract，宾语是attention，in these days of increased use of credit cards and e-mail在句子里起时间状语的作用。在信用卡和电子邮件越来越多地被使用的今天，用来测量这些特性和确认人的身份的自动技术吸引了广泛的关注。
例3：复合句
Government has encouraged waste paper collection and sorting schemes and at the same time,the paper industry has responded by developing new recycling technologies that have paved the way for even greater utilization of used fiber.
分析：这个复合句可以从and处将句子分成两个相对较短的句子：and前面是一个简单句;and后面的句子有一个由that引导的定语从句，充当new recycling technologies的定语。政府鼓励了废纸的回收和分类计划，同时造纸工业也通过开发新的回收技术作出了反应，这个回收技术为更大程度地利用已经使用过的纤维铺平了道路。
例4:插入语结构
Over 120 years ago,the English botanist J.D.Hooker,writing of Australian edible plants,suggested that many of them were'eatable but not worth eating'.
分析：此句中，两个逗号之间的内容即writing of Australian edible plants，充当插入语。120多年前，在写到澳大利亚可食用的植物时，英国植物学家J.D.Hooker就指出它们当中有很多可食用的，但却不值得食用。
例5：倒装结构
In a dispute,not only do the interests of one party not coincide with those of the other party,but they are in conflict.
分析：该句中，not only...but also...引导了倒装句，把其中的句子换成正常语序就是：the interests of one party do not coincide with those of the other party.在一个争论中，不仅一方的利益和另外一方不一致，而且它们是相互矛盾的。
例6:强调句型
These days,it is differences in national regulations,far more than tariffs,that put sand in the wheels of trade between rich countries.
强调句型，put sand in the wheels v.妨碍,捣乱。当前，是各国管理条例上的差异，而不是关税阻碍了发达国家之间的贸易。

Tips: 英语中表示颜色的词，常常有很多特殊的用法some special uses，而且要注意这些词汇的动词用法pay attention to the verbs.
Black 黑色
1.Black sheep 害群之马
He is the black sheep of his family.
他是个败家子。
英语中的害群之马其实是一只羊，但是我们可以用dark horse黑马来形容比赛中出人意料的参赛者。
2.Black out 失去知觉
My legs gave way and I blacked out.
我两腿一软昏了过去。
Black out相当于pass out昏厥
3.Blackout 停电
I hate suffering from a blackout when I have lots of work to do.
我恨透欧了工作量大的时候还停电。
Blackout相当于power failure断电
4.A black mark 污点
The incident left a black mark in his life.
这件事在他的生命中留下了不好的印记。
5.Black money 黑钱
The government says when it comes to black money，it is not a open-and-shut case.
政府认为谈及到黑钱的时候，事情便不在简单了。
Green 绿色
1.Give somebody the green light 批准
My boss gave me the green light to implement the new plan.
老板批准我开始落实新计划。
2.Be green with envy 嫉妒
She was green with envy when she saw her ex-boyfriend with another girl.
她看到前男友和别的女孩在一起嫉妒得要命。
3.the green-eyed monster 爱嫉妒的人
He looks gentle and humble but the green-eyed monster.

4.Green hand
